I honestly didn’t believe the reviews. But you should, and you probably shouldn’t bother reading any further. I spent way too much time looking for the right dongle, and in this case the best one was one of the most affordable, that actually had th emost functionality. Especially because apple sells 10 different cheap plastic version of what this port does all-in-one. If you were to buy all the adaptors that this little dongle gives you at apple. I imagine it would cost like 300 bucks. Meanwhile this is nice alumninum that matches the macbook pro perfectly, and actually looks like it was meant to be plugged into it unlike apple’s cheap white plastic. It allows quick high speed charging through it even while you use it to charge your airpods and send hdmi signal to an external monitor. I am really shocked at how high quality and hefty this thing is.
This little guy is definitely what i needed for my macbook pro. Usb-c is the way of the future, but it’s always annoyed me with other manufacturers and how they’ve produced adapters that only had one purpose. I don’t need to carry three or four different types of adapters in my laptop bag taking up space. This adapter solves all those issues and allows me to just carry one small adapter that allows me to hook up anything and everything to my macbook. I even like how it has power delivery, that way when i sit down at my desk i don’t even need to plug in power along with the adapter, all of it feeds through one usb-c port. Definitely worth the investment of $20.
I just plug my hdmi cord in and then plug the c-type cable in into my ipad 12. I can see whatever is on my ipad on the tv now. If you are looking for a hub with several different options, this is your all in one device to have.
I got this hub to use with a macbook air because i needed a way to connect a 2nd monitor and most of my accessories are usb 2 or 3. The fact that it included a memory card reader for sd and micro sd was just an added bonus. Everything works as it should. I have a monitor connected to the hdmi port, a usb mouse, and the usb-c charging cable plugged into the wall. It’s super easy to just plug in the entire hub and everything just works. The transfer speeds for the memory card readers are plenty fast too. The only problem (hence the 1 missing star) i seem to encounter is my mouse just stops working at random times. It happens maybe once a day. The light on my mouse is still on but it just doesn’t register any movement. I have to unplug it for a few minutes and then plug it back in before it works.
Pros:+ very slim form factor+ excellent build quality+ sturdy and feels solid+ choice of 4k hdmi, 2 usb 3. Cons:- i would like to see ethernet connector, but it’s ok if you have wifi. I have been issued a small laptop at work for business. Sometimes i need to run excel, and i need a big monitor. This thing saves me all the time, if i need to run excel report, i plug it in to my hdtv and i feel like i am the king of the world. It’s great for the phone, i can view and exchange files off any usb flash drive or an nsa if you plug this into your phone. It works with my samsung s9 flawlessly. Its’ usually a pain to open tf card slot in this phone, but i don’t need to do it anymore, if i need to access my dashcam card. I pull it out, put in into the this hiearcool usb c hub, and there you go – i have instant access to my dashcam vids on very high speed. Awesome device, works great for me. I am completely satisfied with this purchase, and would definitely recommend anyone to purchase it.
