I have a the hyperx for my xbox one x. I have purchased and tried many headsets over the years and i think the brand are some of the best sounding with great features over many other products. Sometimes simplicity is just the way to go. When i needed to buy a headset for my pc, i didn’t bother looking around, quick search on amazon and this popped up, went straight into the cart and was at my doorstep later that week. I didn’t read any details before purchasing. I was a bit surprised to see they were usb with a mic and volume control and toss in 7. I will be the first to say, headphones are a unique fit to every individual, my youngest prefers a different headset, my oldest likes them but doesn’t like the fact that he has to plug into something, his preference is bluetooth first. They sound great, have great quality feel, the control box comes with a clip so you can clip onto something, personally i just toss it off to the side of my leg and i find it less binding than when i plug into my xbox controller. For pc gaming, they are plenty long.
Yes, the soundcard dac does work on ps4. The mute, mic volume, virtual surround, and volume buttons work correctly as long as you update the firmware and drivers on the soundcard dac. Just go to support page on hyperx site and you’ll find the headphones and downloads for it, very easy. With that said, i prefer to not use the surround feature as i can hear footsteps much better (currently playing apex legends). The virtual surround is probably better for music or movies but for hearing footsteps i would not recommend it. With that said i think all the pros that people have mentioned are pretty much spot on. I only wish the mic was flip up style but that is just a personal preference. I have no complaints so far and the volume is more than plentiful for ps4. Don’t forget that you can adjust the volume from both the usb soundcard as well as the ps settings. Fyi, it’s an airplane attachment that comes with the headset, not a computer attachment.
Pros: the sounds felt balanced across the board, i have yet to use it on my pc laptop as it’s stuck in shanghai china and i’m stuck here in the us. On my ps4 it sounds crazy crisp, i can hear everything. I can even hear the sounds coming from my brother’s head phones (he lives in nd and i’m currently in nv) picked up from his mic when we play cod. On my mac, movies sound great. It’s like being in a theater without the annoying candy wrapper crinkle sounds of neighbors or sticky floors. The clamping force is a tad heavy as i kind of have a chunky head. Though i’d rather have a tad tight than a tad too loose as with my turtle beach head phones, those things have phenomenal range but fall off anytime i look down. I like the hyperx cloud ii ear cups, leather feel rather than fabric. I shave my head bald and nothing is more gross than fabric that has been saturated with sweat and head greases. Cons: the range advertises 20 meters (around 60 ft), i usually leave my headphones on when i have to drop a deuce.
In the box: one headset with leatherette covered memory foam ear pads attached on a 1 meter braided cord with 3. 5mm plug, two additional velour covered memory foam ear pads, one 3. 5mm airplane adapter, one detachable 3. 5mm mic, one 2 meter braided cord with inline sound card/volume control and usb plug, one 2 pocket mesh cinch bag. The headset pleasingly comfortable yet fits snugly over my ears. I have a large head and a lot of hair, but it extends easily and securely (with room to spare). There is soft padding on the inside of the headband which is quite comfortable and i’d assume people with little or no hair would find this nice. The padding on the cups is removable, and the box came with 2 sets; velour covered and leatherette covered. Both sets feature the memory foam inside the pads and are undeniably comfortable. While the leatherette is more luxurious, i find the velour set is physically cooler for long term usage.
I bought these as a replacement for my old logitech g430s. They were getting old and they were hurting my head to wear for longer than 2 hours at a time. These cloud iis have been amazing so far. They are super comfortable and the sound quality is great for what i use it for (gaming, discord chat with friends). Pros:- comfortable foam sits well on my head- can wear for extended periods without headache- sound is clear and perfect for hearing 360 degrees- mic is very well made and crystal clear (from what my friends tell me) and it will not pick up stray sounds in the room. If i try to talk through it from further than foot or 2 away, it will not pick up. – maybe a con, but i cannot hear much else with these on. They immerse me fully in whatever i’m doing, sometimes to the frustration of my so. Cons:- cable sometimes gets in my way when i’m trying to move my desk chair around- nothing else really that i’ve had happen so far. I will be buying another set of these if/when these ever give out on me.
