I originally had the blue yeti mic but needed another mic to stream, and the hyper x was a great upgrade.
Your browser does not support html5 video. this is a video review for the quadcast. General pros and cons will go here:pros:+ very intuitive mute/unmute system, convenient gain control dial+ warmer sound, but overall has a good balance to sound natural+ four polar patterns to choose from, which is handy for things other than gaming+ build quality looks solid but still is quite light+ built-in audio jack for a monitor mode+ shock mount and pop filter includedcons:- red lighting unable to be changed- gain control printing is inaccurate- mute/unmute area is matte and gets easily smudged- a bit on the higher end for pricing on ‘gamer stand-up mics’, however there are additional features for the premium pricingwith these in mind, i still believe this microphone is a very solid 9. 5/10 as most arguments are trivial and doesn’t detract at all from the function of the mic.
This is such a beautiful mic. Plug it right in and start speaking away. The mute button on this is also fantastic. The rgb also turns off when you mute the microphone making it easy to distinguish. On the fly gain control as well is very helpful. Pair this with some kind of digital mixer and you’ll be speaking like the pros. It might a litt big on the size but it’s not as heavy as a blue yetti.
Pros:-incredibly easy to use; literally plug and play, with the mute being very visible-high reliability; had zero performance issues. Friend who got it had some issues with audio out of the box, but got it replaced in a week by hyperx. Since then, no issues (popping, robot, static, drops, etc. )-superior performance to virtually all other usb condenser mics; this may change in the future, but as of right now, you can’t get a better usb microphone on the market. Cons:-expensive; no way to beat around the bush, this will likely be your most expensive purchase on a mic unless your an audiophile and/or professional (in either case, you wouldn’t be here reading this review. )-better alternative options; i’m referring to traditional xlr condenser mics, which are more price competitive, but require more setup (phantom power, pre-amp, usb converter or sound card, etc. Part of what you’re paying for here is convenience. Considering my last several mics were xlr condenser, having the complexity and issues associated i decided this is more my speed. -single color scheme; this may bother some or none, but having a red mic that literally glowing red when in use mayb clash with some peoples’ setups.
I have owned many many mics ranging from the snowball to the at20200 xlr. I just replaced my blue yeti with the quadcast and immediately fell in love. It certainly picks up less white noise than the blue yeti (in my environment). The red led is an awesome indicator if you are live and ready to record. It is surprisingly light compared to the blue yeti and at2020. I have had multiple comments on twitch and in discord asking what i did because i sound much clearer. One subjective con is that the quadcast does not add the same amount of bass that the yeti does, however, that is nothing to knock a star off for. I use voicemeeter banana so it was an easy fix. Tldr: this microphone is great for streamers/content creators/average users. Great that hyperx has entered into this market.
